Thrift Shop Light Transformation

I know these form of earlier too afters are all over the internet, but for me they never instruct old! Call me weird, but I instruct excited nigh seeing the possiblilties inwards what someone else thinks is junk!

During a quick run-through, I spotted this pair of lamps at the thrift store:

Aren't they beauties? Ok, perhaps not, but I saw the beauty hiding within! They were notwithstanding total price-$12.99 each- the hateful solar daytime I saw them, which I did non desire to pay. If I had, yesteryear the fourth dimension I got novel shades for them too spent the coin on supplies, I could convey had two construct novel lamps! So, I walked away. I had to hold back a whole calendar week for the side yesteryear side grade downwards day, when I knew they would hold upward one-half price. That calendar week was torture, but I simply knew no i else would desire those ugly lamps. :)

After a skillful cleaning too coat of primer, I sprayed a duad of coats of Rustoleum's Meadow Green. I used Courtney's play a trick on of icon tape too applied some Rub & Buff to painter's tape, cutting it inwards narrow strips, too played or too thus amongst options of where I wanted some golden detailing.

I used a modest paintbrush too "Pure Gold" acrylic pigment to pigment the rings. Not gonna saccharide coat it, they took forever...like two 1/2 nights spell watching shows. But, I intend the extra touching on was totally worth it!

As I mentioned inwards a previous post, the largest drum shade at Target was notwithstanding a fiddling likewise small, too thus later converting the Ikea Jara pendant shade to tally on a harp, I added some greek fundamental ribbon to the bottom.

Here's a fiddling tip- If you lot desire to add together some cut back to a shade but don't desire to ruin the shade amongst hot glue, simply add together i fiddling dab at the seam, too wind your ribbon tightly or too thus the shade. To finish, secure the unloose terminate yesteryear putting i to a greater extent than driblet of gum on the terminate that's already glued down, too press downwards the unloose end. You'll solely convey i fiddling driblet underneath if you lot e'er desire to alter it downwards the road. The sides of my shade are a chip sloped, too thus I also used two or three adhesive gum dots (found amongst the scrapbooking supplies) or too thus the bottom to croak along the ribbon from slipping.
