How To Convert An Ikea Jara Drum Pendant Shade To Jibe A Light Base

A few weeks agone I scored a non bad novel pairs of thrift shop lamps that needed a makeover every bit good every bit novel shades.   Target e'er has a non bad pick of shades, but fifty-fifty the largest drum shade was a flake besides pocket-size for the lamps.  So, I had my oculus out for but the correct shade when nosotros went to Ikea over Spring Break.  And, I constitute it!  It's the Jara shade, but I actually solely paid attending to the size (not the frame inside, popular off on reading)...it was but right.

But, I didn't pay unopen plenty attending to the inside, in addition to when I went to attach it to the lamp, womp womp.  The hole was besides large to jibe on the socket, because the master copy intent for this shade was for it to hold out a hanging pendant lamp.

After farther inspection of the framework, I discovered that the sides tin hold out unlatched in addition to the socket hole tin hold out swiveled upside down, in addition to then it is closer to the overstep of the shade.

Now the shade would run amongst a harp, but the hole was besides large for the finial to secure the shade to the harp.

Enter...two $0.24 washers from Lowe's.   I forgot what seat out the washers are, but the diameter is correct at 2 inches.

I used a sparse bead of Gorilla Glue (if you've never used it before, it expands every bit it dries, in addition to then become easy) in addition to followed the application directions to secure the washer to the too-large hole.

 

After the gum dried, I gave all of the frame hardware a quick spray amongst Rustoleum's metallic element gilt to unify everything.  

Now everything fits together perfectly!

I am SO happy amongst how the lamps turned out...can't await to exhibit you lot after inwards the week!
